Coffee continues to divide the scientific community!
For several years, scientists ask themselves the benefits of caffeine on skin cancer. But in such studies, it is very difficult to establish a cause-effect relationship between coffee consumption and reduced risk of contracting the disease.
However, a new study, from 1984 to 2008 on more than 100,000 people, by scientists at the American Association for Cancer Research in Boston shows that drinking about three cups of coffee a day reduce women 20% risk of contracting a skin cancer called also basalioma.
This survey confirms the results of another study published last summer in the Proceedings of the National Academy of Sciences who had also demonstrated the benefits of caffeine on the prevention of certain types of cancer.
The men, meanwhile, seem not to take half. In fact, consuming about three cups of coffee a day reduces only 9% of their risk of developing this cancer. Researchers can not yet explain why.
That's why Dr. Fengju Song and his colleagues at Harvard University analyzed the various studies and now want to discover the reasons for the risk differential between women and men.
Other studies have shown that caffeine is beneficial against other types of diseases such as Alzheimer's disease, diabetes or liver cancer.
